IMPROVE team at VDI conference

May 2018 – In the frame of the VDI conference “Big Data in Production” in Ettlingen from 15 to 16 May 2018, IMPROVE team members have presented the European research project on automated manufacturing. IMPROVE coordinator Prof. Dr Oliver Niggemann welcomed all participants to the VDI conference that brings together leading players in the field of automation, production and big data.

On the first day of the conference, the IMPROVE project partners Marta Fullen from Fraunhofer IOSB-INA and Alexander Harrer from Brückner Maschinenbau held a presentation on “Intelligent industrial data analytics to IMPROVE the efficiency of CPPSs”. In this context, they focused on how European-funded research can boost international competitiveness of European small and medium-sized enterprises and how machine learning-based approaches like condition monitoring, predictive maintenance, and alarm management increase efficiency, uptime and cost-effectiveness. Furthermore, they highlighted the importance of digital twins for industrial application.

The VDI conference on big data and production especially targets scientists and stakeholders from the industry. Renowned participants get together to inform each other about the latest solutions and topics in the field of automation, production, and big data. In this year’s edition, major presentations have been hold about machine learning, data protection, and security aspects.
