University of Modena and Reggio Emilia

University of Modena and Reggio Emilia (UNIMORE) is an Italian University organized on a ”site network” model embracing the cities of Modena and Reggio Emilia, in close cooperation with surrounding economical clusters (more than 300 companies, most of them in the area of Mechatronics, logistic and automotive in one of the richest economic area in Italy). UNIMORE will participate to the project through the research group of Automation, Robotics and System Control Lab (ARSControl, www.arscontrol.unimore.it) of the Department of Sciences and Methods of Engineering, (DISMI). ARSControl is a research group who is strongly committed to fundamental and applied researches on robotics and automation.

ARSControl research staff includes 26 researchers (full professor, associate professor, research assistant, 18 temporary researchers member, 7 PhD. Students) who are working in several research projects in cooperation with companies and research institutes, in particular in the area of mobile robotics, automation and logistics.

UNIMORE is the work package leader of WP4 and therefore responsible for the simulation and optimization part of the project. Algorithms and simulations will interact for optimizing parameters of production plants. Virtual models will be built and validated through data from the working plant. These models will be used for verifying the identified parameters before their implementation in the real plant. UNIMORE has experience on different granularity levels of simulations as Discrete Event,Virtual Commissioning and Dynamics simulations.
